7、Mainland certification in certain academic fields will not be recognized in Taiwan

  • Date:2024-03-07

Currently, the MOE recognizes academic credentials awarded by 155 colleges and universities and 191 junior colleges in mainland China. According to Article 22 of the "Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area," the MOE has not recognized academic credentials awarded by mainland Chinese higher education institutions for medical personnel defined in the Medical Care Act. Consequently, Taiwanese graduates of medical programs in mainland China, even from prestigious schools such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, or Fudan University, cannot participate in qualification examinations for medical practitioners in Taiwan upon return. In addition, mainland China and Taiwan differ considerably in their medical environments and medical doctors' social status and benefits. Taiwanese students should carefully assess all factors before pursuing medical studies in mainland China. For more details on the accreditation process, please refer to the guidelines from the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education, Ministry of Education.
