The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) will make the following adjustments to consular services and operations at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Hong Kong from Mach 7 to April 1 this year (2022) in response to the COVID-19 surge in Hong Kong and several TECO personnel having tested positive for COVID-19.

1. Service Hours: Documents can be submitted in the morning (9:00 am to 1:00 pm) and collected in the afternoon (2:00 pm to 4:00 pm) on business days.

2. Services Available and Ways to Make Appointments:

(1) (a) Urgent applications for passports, visas, and document authentication and (b) applications for business visas for foreign nationals should be submitted with relevant documents and plane tickets with departure time within 10 days following the appointment. Appointments should be made online (http://tecos.org.hk).

(2) Citizens of mainland China, residents of Hong Kong and Macao, and ROC nationals without a registered household in Taiwan who are applying for Taiwan Entry Permits for currently allowed purposes should call (+852 2525-8316) for appointments.

3. Prior appointments for any of the above-mentioned services will be postponed. Related arrangements will be announced separately.

4. The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that, from March 7, 2022, residents of Hong Kong and Macao may apply to enter Taiwan to fulfill contractual obligations in business or with the cause of internal transfers within multinational enterprises. Services in such cases will not be affected and will continue to be conducted normally.

The aforementioned adjustments are temporary responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong; the rest of the services remain in place and unaffected. In case of Taiwan nationals in Hong Kong requiring emergency assistance, please call the 24-hour hotline at +852-6143-9012. The MAC has asked TECO in Hong Kong to strengthen epidemic prevention measures in accordance with local regulations and do its utmost to maintain uninterrupted operations. We hope that the pandemic in Hong Kong will abate soon, and that Taiwan nationals in Hong Kong and Hong Kong residents will remain safe.
