MAC Press Release No. 27

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) today (April 10, 2018) held the Teacher Chang for Taiwanese Businessmen (TCTB) Promotion Seminar and Certification Activity. During the activity, Minister Chen Ming-tong presented certificates and service contribution awards. He also met with TCBC advisors to discuss the operational challenges and service needs of Taiwanese businesspeople in mainland China, the impact of the Mainland's 31 Taiwan-related measures on Taiwanese businesses, approaches to helping Taiwanese businesspeople to invest back in Taiwan, and other issues as a reference for helping and better serving the Taiwanese business community in the Mainland.

Minister Chen stated in his speech that the MAC established the TCTB program 22 years ago. He thanked and praised the program for its civic-minded and passionate assistance to Taiwanese businesspeople. Taiwanese businesspeople recently have faced increasing difficulties due to the complex and changing situation in the Mainland and in the world trade arena. The Mainland has enacted environmental protection laws and tax inspections, as well as intensified political intervention. The recent trade spat between China and the US may also affect the investments and operations of Taiwanese businesses in the Mainland. Minister Chen stated at a recent handover ceremony that he would make every effort to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait so that people from all walks of life and vocations can all live in peace, work happily, and prosper. The government will establish a stable and secure environment to help Taiwanese businesspeople to reduce investment risk and respond to change. He expressed hope to rely more on TCTB's expertise to provide Taiwan's business community with solid backing and problem-solving advice and approaches.

The TCBC program has 89 members this year. Minister Chen welcomed 20 new members and presented service contribution awards to two outstanding senior members, Wang Tien-i and Li Chien. During the afternoon seminar, TCBC advisors offered many valuable opinions and suggestions on promoting service work.

The MAC has promoted the TCTB program since April 24, 1996. Experts from the business and academic sectors are invited to form advisory groups providing one-to-one professional consulting services for Taiwanese businesspeople on handling practical issues. Taiwanese businesspeople needing consulting services can contact the TCTB service team by phone (02-2756-3266) or fax (02-2756-5518), or visit the Taiwanese Businesspeople Information Web (http: //www.chinabiz.org.tw) to ask questions or make an appointment for consultation services.
