1. The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) emphasized that, since March 19, high-level officials of the Presidential Office and Executive Yuan have instructed relevant departments to take all necessary measures and use various feasible channels to assist in the handling of this case, as well as to maintain close contact with family members and related organizations.
2. Mainland China must squarely and seriously face up to the joint solidarity of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with Mr. Li Ming-che's actions. It must also deeply understand the conviction and insistence of the people of Taiwan on protecting human rights. The Mainland should understand the significant contribution of NGOs to the development of cross-Strait relations over the years and ensure that NGOs on both sides can contribute their efforts for cross-Strait peace in an environment without fear.
3. This case has attracted a high level of attention on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and in the international community. We call on Beijing to promptly clarify the facts, actively respond to the demands of the Taiwan side and family members, and satisfactorily resolve this dispute to avoid affecting cross-Strait relations at a complex and sensitive time.
