Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) Minister Wang Yu-chi will fly to Macao this morning (August 27) to inspect operations at the local Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). Accompanied by Acting Director of the MAC's Department of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Chen Ming-jen and staff, this trip marks Minister Wang's first inspection visit to an overseas representative office after taking office, and it is also his first visit to Macao.

Taiwan's Macao office was renamed as the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in July 2011. In addition to providing faster and more convenient service to the people of Taiwan and Macao, the office has since then been more committed to promoting Taiwan-Macao relations, and has acquired more significant functions and achieved outstanding performance. Minister Wang’s visit coincides with the second anniversary of TECO's renaming; he will inspect the office affairs and extend support and encouragement to the staff for their hard work.

Minister Wang will meet with Macao officials on this trip to promote the development of Taiwan-Macao relations. He will also host a banquet for the leaders of Taiwan associations and business groups in Macao to thank them for their contribution to Taiwan-Macao exchanges and also for their support for TECO.
