Expanding the "Mini-Three-Links"

(Implemented on June 19, 2008)

Starting from June 19, 2008, the people of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, foreign nationals, the Mainland spouses and children of Taiwanese people, as well as the Mainland spouses of foreign nationals working in Taiwan have been allowed to travel across the Taiwan Strait via the "Mini-Three-Links" provided that they hold valid entry/exit documents issued by both sides of the Strait. According to statistics, from June 19 to November 30, 2008, over 590,000 person-trips were made by people traveling across the Taiwan Strait via the "Mini-Three-Links" route. The number of person-trips increased by 240, 000 (approximately 72%) as compared to the same period in 2007.

Benefits: This measure will facilitate cross-strait travel for Taiwanese businesspeople and the general public, as well as promote the development of the "Mini-Three-Links" as a normal channel for cross-strait contact.
