The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) again held the Cross-Strait Exchange Documentary Literature Awards to record the changes in the course of cross-strait exchanges from the people's perspective. The Awards encourages the people to write down their own stories so that various memories in the transition of cross-strait relations may be preserved and that diversified and profuse cross-strait interactions may be presented. At the end of January, all winning entries of the Awards were compiled and published into one publication in which all sincere and heartfelt stories and portraits of the people have been preserved.

The MAC stated that the Second Awards ceremony was held in 2012 on December 14. During the ceremony, jury representatives Lan Po-chou and Yu Wen-cheng remarked that due to the warming of cross-strait exchanges, the works submitted this year were more diversified and profuse compared to those of the last, and also that through the works, more distinct images of cross-strait exchanges have been presented. The winning entries captured the emotions of the Taiwanese public, Mainland spouses, and Mainland students in cross-strait exchanges. Many of the authors noted that, only through mutual understanding and toleration can the two sides discover common touching elements of life within their respective environments.

The winning entries are available for public enjoyment on the "Second Cross-Strait Exchange Documentary Literature Awards" event website (http://www.macliterature.com.tw), the MAC's official website (http://www.mac.gov.tw/), and at www.sudu.cc.
