The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) stated today (April 27th) that the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) verified today that the Mainland’s Hunan province has confirmed its first case of H7N9 influenza. The Center has listed the province as an H7N9 influenza infection area and included it into the flu travel advisory Level-2 Alert, expanding the scope of the Level-2 Alert to the current eight provinces and two cities in the Mainland. The MAC has issued yellow travel alert as well for Hunan province, based on resolutions made by the CECC.

The scope of the flu travel advisory Level-2 Alert now includes Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Henan, Shandong, Jiangxi, Fujian and Hunan, with the MAC also including them into areas under yellow travel alert. The MAC hereby reminds citizens to be especially vigilant about travel safety, to reconsider travel plans, and to enhance self-care if travel to the said areas cannot be avoided.
