1. The killing of a Taiwanese fisherman by the Philippines is an act of atrocity in violation of international law. The ROC government has taken proactive and vigorous measures in making stern representations to the Philippines and demanding the Philippines to seriously respond to Taiwan's requests.

2. The MAC stated that, actions that are irrational, non-peaceful and in violation of international law should be condemned by all parties. Taiwan has also expressed gratitude towards parties such as the United States and the Mainland for expressing their concern over the incident. However, the "one China principle" advocated by mainland China is completely irrelevant to this case. Our interpretation of the "one China" is the Republic of China. It is hoped that this point is fully acknowledged by all parties so as to avoid hurting our people’s feelings in dealing with this incident.

3. The MAC further stated that, it would be unacceptable to Taiwan if the Philippines conveyed proposals for follow-up negotiations or handling of the matter through mainland China. The MAC also stated that it trusted the Mainland to empathize, maintain mutual respect, and not intervene in Taiwan’s disputes with third parties.
