Notice of Eased Quarantine Regulations for Taiwan Companies in the Mainland Engaging in Specific Forms of Economic Activity

The Ministry of Economic Affairs Investment Commission (MOEAIC) declared that on its thirtieth meeting, called by the Mainland Affairs Council, the Offshore Control Division of the Executive Yuan's SARS Epidemic Prevention, Control and Relief Committee had agreed to allow certain Taiwan companies in the Mainland engaging in specific forms of economic activity (including processing with supplied materials, assembling supplied parts, processing according to supplied samples, and compensatory trade) to apply for the relaxation of "Type B Home Quarantine Measures" with regard to all their personnel. The anti-SARS committee has already finished drafts of the new regulations, procedures and relevant forms. Beginning today (June 14), the competent authorities will process registrations and applications for the eased measures of "Type B Quarantine" from all Taiwan companies engaging in the forms of economic activity specified above.

The MOEAIC announced that the relevant procedures and application forms have already been posted on the following websites of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Investment Commission, the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) and the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF):

The MOEAIC calls on companies planning to apply for the relaxation of "Type B Quarantine Measures" to first visit these websites, gain a thorough understanding of the relevant regulations and required documentation, and to download the adequate application forms. If an applicant fails to submit all required documentation, his application will be rejected.

On June 14 and 15 (Sat/Sun), the MOEAIC will keep its windows open to process applications for free (no fee). Please apply at: 8F, 7 Roosevelt Rd., Sec. 1, Taipei. Windows will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no noon break). Applicants will be handed their papers on the spot.
