- Completion of negotiations on implementing cross-strait
weekend charter flights and opening up tourism in Taiwan for the people of the
Mainland Area (Completed cross-strait
negotiations and signed an agreement on June 13, 2008; Implemented
cross-strait weekend charter flights on July 4, 2008, with the first mainland
Chinese tourist group starting a historic journey to Taiwan; Policy of
allowing mainland Chinese tourists to visit Taiwan officially implemented on
July 18, 2008)
- Comprehensive lifting of restrictions on cross-strait travel
by Taiwan personnel via the “Mini-Three-Links”
(Implemented on June 19, 2008)
- Allowing renminbi-NT dollar conversion business to be
implemented in the Taiwan Area (Submitted to the Executive Yuan on June
26, 2008; implemented on June 30, 2008)
- Adjusting and easing regulations governing cross-strait
securities investment (Submitted to the Executive Yuan on June 26, 2007;
Related legal and regulatory amendments to be promulgated later)
- Allowing five mainland Chinese local media agencies to station
reporters in Taiwan and resuming the stationing of reporters by the Xinhua
News Agency and the People’s Daily in Taiwan to cover news events
(Implemented on June 30, 2008)
- Allowing county magistrates and city mayors to visit the
Mainland Area for exchanges (Implemented on July 3, 2008)
- Easing ratio restrictions on Mainland stock-related overseas
investments made by funds (Submitted to the
Executive Yuan on July 3, 2008; Related legal and regulatory amendments to be
promulgated later)
- Lifting the ceiling on Mainland-bound capital investment and
streamlining the investment review process (Submitted to the Executive
Yuan on July 17, 2008; Implemented on August 1, 2008)
- Providing facilitation measures for the visit to Taiwan by
Mainland professionals (Promulgated and
implemented by the Ministry of the Interior on July 31, 2008)
- Relaxing restrictions on public listing in Taiwan by overseas
enterprises and appropriately allowing Mainland capital to invest in Taiwan's
stock market (Implemented on July 31, 2008)
- Promoting normalization of the "Mini-Three-Links"
(Completion of related policy adjustment measures before Sept. 30, 2008;
implementation of the regularized "Mini-Three-Links" in Penghu before
mid-October 2008)
