MAC Press Release No. 28

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) held a symposium on the "30th Anniversary of Cross-Strait Exchanges: Review and Outlook of Teacher Chang for Taiwanese Businessmen" today (April 18, 2017). MAC Minister Chang Hsiao-yueh presented a certificate of achievement to Teacher Chang for Taiwanese Businessmen (TCTB) for outstanding service. A forum was also held with TCTB on the operational challenges and service needs of Taiwanese businesspeople in mainland China to serve as a reference in improving the quality of services to Taiwanese businesspeople.

Minister Chang noted in her speech that this year is the 30th anniversary of cross-Strait exchanges and the 21st anniversary of TCTB. Taiwanese businesspeople constitute an important force in promoting cross-Strait economic and trade exchanges and maintaining cross-Strait peace. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Straits Exchange Foundation, and MAC attach great importance to services for Taiwanese businesspeople. They strive to protect the rights and interests of Taiwanese businesspeople and care for the needs of Taiwan's business community. The MAC affirmed and thanked TCTB for helping Taiwanese businesspeople to resolve investment problems in mainland China.

Minister Chang expressed hope that TCTB and government services would advance with the times to be able to truly assist Taiwanese businesspeople at a time of tremendous changes in the business environment in mainland China, including: rising production costs, the rise of red supply chains, increasing industrial competition across the Taiwan Strait, the implementation of anti-tax avoidance measures by mainland China, and changes in the international and cross-Strait situation.

During the symposium, TCTB made many valuable suggestions on the investment and business environment in mainland China and the changing needs of Taiwanese businesspeople based on its experience providing Taiwanese businesspeople with professional consulting support. The suggestions will serve as a reference in further enhancing the professional consulting services provided by TCTB and government services for Taiwanese businesspeople.

The MAC has promoted the TCTB program since April 24, 1996. Experts from the business and academic sectors are invited to form advisory groups providing one-to-one professional consulting services for Taiwanese businesspeople on handling practical issues. Taiwanese businesspeople needing consulting services can contact the TCTB service team by phone (02-2756-3266) or fax (02-2756-5518), or visit the Taiwanese Businesspeople Information Web (http://www.chinabiz.org.tw) to ask questions or make an appointment for consultation services.
