Minister Chang Officiates Handover Ceremony for New and Outgoing Director-Generals of the Bureau of Macao Affairs; Legislators from Ruling and Opposition Parties Observe the Ceremony

The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) held a handover ceremony this morning (July 17, 2017) for the new and outgoing director-generals of the Office of Macao Affairs. Minister Chang Hsiao-yueh officiated the handover. Legislative Yuan members Chen Hsueh-sheng, Yang Cheng-wu, Lin Li-chan, Hsu Chih-chieh, Yang Yao, and Cheng Pao-ching observed the ceremony and congratulated Chen Hsueh-huai upon taking office as the new director-general. The handover ceremony was successfully completed in a solemn and warm atmosphere.

Minister Chang stated in her speech that, although Director-General Chen Hsueh-huai's previous position was director-general of the Accounting Department under Office of the President, he has very deep roots with the MAC. Director-General Chen served at the MAC for 20 years in the capacities of section chief, senior specialist, director, and counselor. He also served as acting managing director of the Bureau of Hong Kong Affairs for over seven months and is highly familiar with cross-Strait, Hong Kong, and Macao affairs. Minister Chang expressed confidence in Director-General Chen's ability to meet the demands of the position, maintain continuity, and further advance Taiwan-Macao relations. She described Director-General Chen as "meticulous in work and dealing cheerfully with colleagues" and commended him for his outstanding performance and deep camaraderie with colleagues in previous positions.

Minister Chang also affirmed and praised outgoing Director-General Lu Chang-shui for his hard work, contribution, and successful accomplishment of tasks during four years of service in Macao. The handover ceremony was successfully completed at 10:10 am. Director-General Chen flew to Macao this afternoon to take up his new position.
