Relaxing regulations to allow Taiwan’s universities to conduct extension education programs in mainland China, Kinmen and Matsu

(Revised and promulgated by the Ministry of Education on November 3, 2008)

On November 3, 2008, the government began allowing people of mainland China to attend extension education programs organized by Taiwan’s universities in Kinmen, Matsu and Penghu. The government also eased restrictions on the student qualifications and teaching credentials for domestic universities offering extension education in the Mainland to facilitate the globalization of enterprise operations and the internationalization of higher education.

Benefits: These measures will accelerate the development of the education industry on Taiwan's outlying islands, expand on-the-job education opportunities for the employees of Taiwanese businesses and provide new development space for domestic universities.
